How donathons work
Just like what I did when I founded Mountain State Furries with zero experience going to anyone else’s meets, I’m running my own donathon rules with basically no idea how other streamers do it.
What donation amounts do
When you donate through my Ko-fi page, you can specify how you’d like your donation to be used and divided up. If you don’t, I’ll just default to multiples of $5.
- $1: Pick a song or playlist for me to play in the background. Must be on YouTube or YouTube Music.
- $5: Extend the stream length by thirty minutes. You can redeem this as many times as you want.
- $10: Change games/activities, within reason. Games must be free, gifted or already in my library. I’ll play the game for at least one hour, though this doesn’t add time to the stream.
- $20: Play a horror game (which I hate). Must be free or gifted. I’ll play the game for at least two hours, though this doesn’t add time ot the stream. For reference
- $300: I end stream, LOL.
All costs are in U.S. dollars. 1 bit equals one cent. One subscription equals $5.
For gifting reference: I use Linux, and have Proton available.
When the donathon stops
I start the stream with a set time, e.g. two hours. If I reach that 02h00m mark, I end stream, and either: (a) restart the donathon the next day if the goal isn’t met; or (b) consider the donathon done if the goal is met. If someone extends the time somehow, e.g. to 10h00m, I stream until that’s done, and so forth. However, I will pause the donathon stream for a base eight hours of sleep, as well as work and other major obligations. In that case, I resume the donathon with an adjusted time that represents how long that stream needs to go to fulfill the requirement.
