Turns out my tartar sauce is not standard, so here’s the recipe for those who asked, I guess.

Prep time: 5 minutes
Yield: Enough for four to six fish filets


  • A few heaping spoonfuls real mayonnaise
  • A couple bread-and-butter pickles, finely diced
  • Small spoonful capers
  • Small spoonful dijon mustard
  • Juice of half a lemon or so
  • A bit of chopped fresh dill
  • Smidge prepared horseradish, to taste
  • Several twists black pepper
  • Dash onion powder
  • Dash garlic powder
  • Dash dried parsley
  • Pinch monosodium glutamate


Mix ingredients. Let sit in the refrigerator for about half an hour, if time allows.
